What do we know about Arvind Kejriwal(AK) apart from what media shows us?
Or for that matter NaMo or RG or RajivMalhotra.
Initially I felt somewhat guilty to judge AAP from BJP standpoint alone.
Without doing any Purva-Paksha on them on my own.
Today I stopped myself from posting something against AK on FB.
Why don't I find out more about the guy first, instead? I said to myself
While running a background check on Fortis Hospitals found it more revealing to investigate people than issues. Came to know lot more about the inner goings-on than by studying the P/E ratio etc. though that was also done.
So thought to research a bit on AAP the people, their ideologies, the company they kept and keep. What they said, what their opponents/ex-associates say and do.
Equally important is to find out who wrote the article, what was the slant being given by use of attributional words i.e. a silly mistake (vs unpardonable blunder).
"Silly" from what view-point of the article author (note the range of hues possible) - derogatory, denigrating, condescending, indulgent, back-handed or admiring.
Over time you get a sense of the person and can filter out propaganda, false-positives and false-negatives.Of course one can only get better with experience (i.e. trial-and-error and honing the skill).
The best part is one can educate oneself to know much more than one did just a few days back.
In fact a wiki is best to keep adding to such information but an email conversation works just fine for starters.
Also it helps to give simplistic labels based on ideology one subscribes to.
And the real core ideas always show up no matter what.
Like the Pyramid of India seen in Rajiv Malhotra's talk :
Example :
Religion - Fundamentalist or Devout or Secular or Atheist or Communist or Naxal
Theoretical Ideology - Exploitative or Capitalist or Communist or Socialist or Anarchist
Applied ideology - Corrupt or Conformist or Social-Worker or Activist or Rebel or Anarchist
These are just place-holders while you read different reports.
What happens is that once you find out enough you start reading between the lines.
And refining your mental model of the PurvaPaksha.

AK : AAP ke Notes - AAP Hamare Hain Kaun
AK : AAP ke Notes - AAP Hamare Hain Kaun
In fact it is possible to figure out where Arvind Kejriwal stands.
It's not necessary that Rajiv Malhotra's is sacrosanct or un-refutable.
But
it certainly is a very useful tool - a lens if you will - to understand
the "ideological positions" of people affecting India.
What fooled me was not thinking through the 4 tiered Pyramid and 6 vertical slots properly yesterday.
The 4-tiered pyramid talks about what Issues people are "rooting-for" or "avoid" or are "anti-XYZ".
a) 3 Basic Groups with 6 vertical slots - Hindutva|Secular|Anarchist across spectrum of Pro/Anti-India ideologies.
b)
4 Basic Horizontal Issues - "Hinduism underbelly", "Hinduism", "Indian
Civilization", "Nation" (as per Rajiv Malhotra's classification).
On reading his Ramon Magasaysay Biography I couldn't find __anything__ wrong at all with it.
Basically "A selfless conscientious person trying his best to do something for others esp. the under-dogs.
Not based on caste, religions, reservations etc.".
He even said his inspiration was Swami Vivekananda and had a brief 2 month stint with Ramakrishna Mission.
He
worked with Missionaries of Charity briefly in Kolkata and North-East
only to turn back as "why are Hindu's not doing more to help them" or
some such thing.
The crowd who attended his "Jan-Sunvai" with Parivartan
for water in Delhi seem to come from Secularized-Hindus(3,4,5 slots) and
Communist like Arundhati Roy(6th Slot).
What confused me
is "Basic Human/Citizen Rights" is common for anyone and may be the only
thing attracting these "__diverse__" people.
His distaste for BJP(1st Slot) is well known.
His distaste for BJP(1st Slot) is well known.
I realized the slots require something common to hold them together i.e. Nation.
Even 1st slot can't argue AGAINST NATION. Though they say that Nation without Hinduism is NOTHING.
Even 1st slot can't argue AGAINST NATION. Though they say that Nation without Hinduism is NOTHING.
There are many Arabias and Romes but only one Bharat which needs to be protected.

I feel that AK is a "Union-leader" who has search-replaced "worker-rights" with "people-rights".
Same rhetoric as Communist but with a more acceptable "secular" angle which is acceptable to all but totally Hindutva category.I feel that AK is a "Union-leader" who has search-replaced "worker-rights" with "people-rights".
In fact he's targetted the biggest block of people who will support him for different reasons.
He's infact made significant inroads into BJP safe-votes by giving Soft-Hindutva people - a credible and even "too-good-to-be-true" alternative.
No religion, no business, no development. Only "People Rights".
Talk to him about anything else like Pakistan or Terror attacks and he walks off.
As far as I can see he lands in the Right-most column just beside the BreakIndia column.
He _ONLY_ talks about Nation, Constitution, People Rights and Answerability to People i.e. the top of the Pyramid.
This is basically a "Common Minimum Consensus for Coalition" not among Parties but among various slots.
THIS is the beauty of what attracts almost everyone i.e. 2,3,4,5 slots to AK.
I may be wrong but I think what misled me was "If he's FOR People's Rights and has worked for bringing them justice HOW CAN THAT BE WRONG!!!".
In retrospect I think Dr. Subramanian Swamy was right.
He called "Sikhri and Arvind Kejriwal as Naxals i.e. Anti-establishment forces".
Whoever captures most votes will be one who appeals to the most number of slots.
Anarchists, Naxals, Communists are too hard-line.
Same thing for BJP as Hindus normally avoid violence and extremes.
Since they didn't have any alternative they were looking to
NaMo for some alternative esp. with anti-encumbency and anti-corruption.
Even he was trying to soften his stance and reach out to others on "Pro-Development" platform.
Almost all slots have been hijacked by the "Union Leader" AK.
Apparently today's newspaper reports CPI-M person has said :
"AK basically believes in the same things as us but he has taken up cudgels for 'aam admi' instead of ideology per-se. We might support him but he's chosen to go on his own path"
==========
Just because someone claims ALL kinds of good things for himself doesn't mean he IS what he claims.
Most political parties claim the BEST things in the world but we don't believe them.
Most political parties claim the BEST things in the world but we don't believe them.
We need to reason out the hidden text and actions and associate them.
Capitalists vs. Communists vs Swadeshis :
As
S. Gurumurthy says in his video - Capitalists and Communists are 2
sides of the same Hegelian coin from which they originated.
a) Capitalists put Business first (i.e. businessmen) as they claim they're pro-production. Most degenerate into being proxy for business-lobbies.
b) Communists put People first (i.e. labourers) as they claim they're pro-distribution. Most degenerate into power blocs within power-lobbies.
These are imported Hegelian Euro-centric models which don't suit the psychological make-up of our Nation.
They BOTH concentrate on Centralized, Administered, Authoritarian Governments.
NOTE:These 2 ideologies are very good at dividing society into "haves and have-nots".
This if you remember our Social Studies text-books was a key term of Socialism.
Socialism itself was an AAP like pro-people, democratic and anti-business ideology.

Remember the "License Raj"?!!
He further points out that Bharat needs to follow its own time-tested model which worked successfully for thousands of years right from Mohenjodaro/Harappa times.
Flexible, local organization based not on centralized adminstration but following a "distributed internet-like model".
The kind of town planning and immaculate up-keep of the towns was something un-precedented in the History of the World.
Our Sanskriti on the other hand has always been de-centralized and autonomous.
Swadeshi and Panchayat-based with non-local portfolios handled as Centre and State.
Swadeshi and Panchayat-based with non-local portfolios handled as Centre and State.
Purva Paksha of Dr. Swamy:
He clearly states (shouts out more like) what he believes in!! The only other thing he could do is wear a big Neon sign.
Anyway he's a spokesperson not an administrator like NaMo. So it doesn't matter that much what his personal beliefs are.
AK Union-Leader:
If you look at his dress lately - consciously wearing "dowdy doodh-wala type scarf" and "baggy old sweater".
Swept away are the crisp, ironed formals which first clearly labelled him as a middle-class, English-educated ex-babu.
Time for some major "proletariat sucking-up"!!
"If he looks like one, quacks like one, he MUST be an aam-admi".
AK is basically a forked-out "Communist-Laandga" wearing "Lions-Jacket" to convince "Sheep" he's just a "chota-saa-maamuli-sa-aam- sheep hoon".

Like the typical Union Leader he'll self-destruct as soon as he becomes successful.
If something is good then MORE of it can only be better. This goes against the "law of diminishing returns".
As he's too much PRO something and ANTI something to look at anything else.
Society is about satisfying aspirations of __different__ kinds of people to a good extent.
Not about putting one section ABOVE another as they've done in Kerala and WB.
The unions and communist govt. have driven out BOTH people and businesses - Keralites need to travel just to get jobs. Tata got thrown out of WB.
NaMo:
Look at the difference in approach of NaMo who's from a business state!!
His track record speaks for itself.
He talks about progress and development as well as e-governance and auditing.
Answer - Media has found a Robin Hood to boost their own TRP ratings.
Till recently they were so cynically critical of AAP. Why the sudden change of heart?!!
It also curiously satisfies Cong goal of 'denying BJP power at ANY cost' even if it means creating a third-front party.
Why then is AK being given special status i.e. Robin Hood - because he's consciously projecting a very clean and upright image.
He's also used Anna Hazare to grab public attention.
He's not very clear on his ideology. Almost obfuscating it.
What led him to do all those things? What is his core set of beliefs?
What will those beliefs mean for the Nation?
He's not very clear on his ideology. Almost obfuscating it.

What will those beliefs mean for the Nation?
The only difference is he's caught a "SINGLE Hope" repressed and suppressed of ALL types/SLOTS of people.
A Common Minimum Program targetting almost all belief systems.
He's also managed to hide his core beliefs by ONLY stating what ALL slots of people want to hear.
Unlike the Communists who've got hedged in by their own firm stance on ideology.
1) Actually BJP has got more seats than AAP so it didn't get outdone in Delhi.
2) AAP which categorically said no coalition with Cong HAD to break its own promise.
Conclusion : AAP Ka To Lagta Hai Bas Yahi Sapna... Raam Naam Japna Paraya Vote Apna!! :-D
